About Us

To this day in Israel, God’s people use stones as a reminder of special events in their lives.  Heritage Baptist Church has some significant milestones that are a testimony to God’s faithfulness.

In May of 1999 a group of 29 people began meeting together for Bible study and worship.  In June 1999 this small group of people were blessed to be able to use the old Western Store building as a temporary place of worship.  In July of 1999 fifty nine people joined together in the formal organization of Heritage Baptist Church.

In March of 2000 the church purchased 26.4 acres of land where the current Heritage campus is located  By December of 2000 a special offering was taken on Christmas Eve and the land was paid in for!

In January of 2002 construction began of the first phase of Heritage’s permanent worship facilities.  In March 2002 J. Timothy Montgomery met with the church and announced that he believed that it was the will of God that he accept the call to come as pastor of Heritage Baptist Church (the church had extended a call several weeks before and he declined at that time).  On April 28, 2002 the founding pastor, Dr. Paul Magness,  preached his final sermon as Pastor.  There were 233 people present that morning.  On May 5, 2002 Heritage welcomed her new pastor, J. Timothy Montgomery.  Dr. Magness was named Pastor Emeritus.

Since that time, Pastor Tim has led Heritage to become a shining light of grace to the Ark-La-Tex.  Since those early days Heritage has grown to a fellowship of over 1,000 people attending each weekend.
